“My relationship with Copia Wireless Communications Limited started in 2001 when I spearheaded a project of institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Local Government using New Technology. The Ministry had recently moved to a new location on Hagley Park Road in Kingston where the Ministry was housed in two buildings.. Each building had its own Local Area Network however there was a need to have a single network spanning the two building that would link their one hundred and fifty computers and provide Internet access. Additionally being a Ministry on the go there was a constant need to be able to respond quickly to requests for new office layouts complete with computer connectivity. .
Copia wireless was at the time one of few companies providing a wireless service in Jamaica. “I opted for a wireless system because a system was needed that was convenient and would facilitate the impromptu reconfiguration of the office space, the provision of computer services to contractual staff , field staff and members of the Local Authorities who visited the Ministry regularly. “Copia used Micronet equipment to leverage the existing Internet service and local network at the ministry allowing everyone to have access,” says an effervescent Pam Thompson.

The Ministry was able to boast seamless integration and communication between both buildings via the wireless system installed by Copia Wireless Communications. “I was very impressed with the manner in which Copia undertook the implementation. . They worked hard to get the job done within a suitable time frame and in a way that was aesthetically pleasing!” Mrs. Thompson has since completed the project at Local Government and today, the Copia network is still being lauded by the current Information Technology Director. So impressed was Mrs. Thompson with Copia that when she installed a wireless network in her house she contacted none other than……… COPIA!
